Flemish grissaille stained glass roundel 16th century
Flemish grissaille stained glass roundel, made in the first quarter of the 16th century. This stained glass roundel depicts one scene in a moralistic parable series. It measures 9 and three quarter inches in diameter. The lead frame is a later replacement. For a similar example, please Sotheby's International Price Guide, 1989 to 1990, page 331, item 10. There is also a nearly identical roundel in the Cloisters collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.This item has been SOLD and and is not available for purchase. Ecclesiastical Italian Gothic Chair walnut c1600. This superb Gothic walnut chair was used by church dignitaries. The walnut is just delicious. Only walnut that is over 400 years old has this deep rich color. The chair has had some repairs over they years which is to be expected from 17th century furniture. Measures 3 inches high and 5 and one quarter inches handle to handle and 4 and three eighths inches across. There is an old inventory number on this piece #260 on a paper label. Just in from a CT Estate. This piece was purchase over 50 years ago from a Antiquities dealer in New York by the family that consigned them to us. Greek or Roman Amphora transport vase
Greek or Roman amphora or wine transport vase. This Greco-Roman vase measures 22 inches long and tapers from 8 and one half inches to 3 and one half inches. This terra cotta amphora dates from the 2nd to the 1st century BC. Condition is quite good with some marine encrustation, elegant tapering body, and cylindrical neck twin handles.
