19th century antique New England oak splint market basket. This basket is quite strong and very well made with a hickory handle and braced base. Measures 14 inches wide and sixteen and one half inches to the top of its handle. Antique French willow market or field basket c1860 to 1880. This antique basket is one of the strongest we have ever seen. It is woven of heavy thick willow. Two wooden slats bolted to the base keep it perfectly stable and off the floor. These two wooden braces are original to the basket. It measures 24 inches across the top, 20 and one half inches high. Across the bottom on the inside, it measures 14 and one half inches. Excellent original condition with a deep rich old patina.
