This wedge shaped Majolica cheese server is a rare form and this is one of the most sought after patterns in covered cheese dishes with its rustic wedge form, turquoise tree bark ground flowering vines with twig handle and lavender inside lid. The triangular tray measures 10 inches on all sides and the cover measures seven inches by 7 and one half inches by 4 inches high. Antique Minton or George Jones Majolica Squirrel dish
Antique English Minton or George Jones Majolica Squirrel dish, This "Minton" or possibly "George Jones" majolica pottery dish has a wonderful glaze and is extremely well done. The mark appears to be from the English Minton factory around 1851. The subject of this piece depicts a squirrel on a brand with leavers and nuts and a blue sky in the back ground. George Jones worked for Minton pottery in England before he went out on his own. This is one of the best pieces of antique Majolica pottery we have seen in quite awhile. This wonderful decorative piece measures 10 inches wide by 9 and one half inches deep and 5 and one half inches to the top of the squirrels head.Condition Excellent. No dings imperfections cracks.
