Vintage gold compacts. This 18k Sapphire and gold compact has the most beautiful moire finish.This gold compact is from the 1950 to 1960 period and is in pristine condition. There are four blue sapphires that are worked into the compacts release catch. The back hinge is made so well and with such precision that it is difficult to see The beveled glass mirror is also original. The moire finish was exquisitely done to look like watered silk or peacock feathers. Weighs 142 grams.
